Information about the Climate Safe Lending Network May Convening:
We look forward to having you join us on May 18 & 19 for an immersive, reflective experience on aligning bank lending with a climate-safe world.
In preparation for this interactive gathering with climate finance leaders representing the diversity of the banking system, we've included the following materials:
Participant Map (please note, this is a working document and is subject to change and revision)
CSL's Taking the Carbon out of Credit report
CSL's Financial Stability in a Planetary Emergency report
In advance of the convening, below are some questions you might like to consider:
How am I/my organisation working to align bank lending with a just and equitable transition to a climate safe world? What progress can I celebrate? What challenges am I experiencing in this work?
Right now, what dynamics am I noticing between actors in the ecosystem working to influence bank climate action and a just transition? (Actors include: banks, regulators, policymakers, NGOs, academics and experts, sector initiatives, civil society, investors and bank clients and customers.)
Where do I experience the most energy in this ecosystem right now? Where are the areas where the system is becoming stuck right now?
What critical shifts need to happen in the system right now that would unlock the biggest leaps forward in bank climate action?
Please find more information about the convening below and contact us at connect@climatesafelending.org if you have any questions or would like additional information about this meeting.
Event Outputs
The output from this event will be:
New and deepened relationships
A set of prototypes (created together) for new initiatives needed to accelerate a just and equitable transition through banking
An identified set of actions that will be taken to test the potential of these initiatives and move them forward.
To generate these outputs, across the two days we will journey from building a collective picture of the current state of the net-zero banking landscape and exploring areas where this system might currently be 'stuck'. We will then identify some critical shifts required to address key areas of 'stuckness'. You can select a shift that is particularly salient to you and in small groups will workshop potential solutions for the way forward and identify what the next steps are and who will implement them.
Attendance
The convening is designed with a continuous agenda that builds on each previous segment. We kindly request that you attend the full duration of the session on both days where at all possible. If you are unable to attend part of the convening, please let us know so we can factor this in and help make arrangements to brief you on the parts you aren't able to attend.
Technology Requirements
We recommend using a laptop or desktop computer to join the session as it will be easier to participate in the interactive components of the convening.
We will be using the following tech platforms for interactive components of the event:
Zoom meetings (including the annotation function and chat function)
Google Docs (accessed via a web browser)
Poll Everywhere (accessed via a web browser on your computer, tablet or phone).
If you are unable to access any of these please let us know so we can arrange alternative options to help you fully participate.
For support with technology during the convening please email connect@climatesafelending.org.
Accessibility and Inclusion
This convening will be highly participatory with a range of structured spaces for you to share your perspective and engage with the perspectives of others. With a diverse group of stakeholders there will be many differing views, helping us all to get a sense of how the net-zero banking landscape is experienced by others. We aim to create a space where these differences become productive energy for innovation and accelerated impact.
Please let us know by email reply if there is anything you need from us to feel comfortable to bring your full self and your perspectives to this space - both in terms of technology and human interactions.
